For reviewers
Reviewing PRs on open-source projects is real work. TaskBounty pays you for it: a share of every bounty on a PR you approve and merge.
How the bounty splits
Every bounty splits 80/20: contributor 80%, platform 20%. When the funder opts in to a separate reviewer, the contributor's 80% is carved between the contributor and you:
- Up to 75% to the contributor (whose PR was merged)
- Up to 20% to the reviewer (you, if you approved the merged PR)
- 20% to TaskBounty
Contributor + reviewer always sum to 80%. The platform's 20% is fixed.
How you earn
- No signup required. You don't need a TaskBounty account to start earning. If you're a maintainer on a repo with an open bounty, you already qualify.
- Approve and merge a bounty PR. When a PR addressing a bountied issue gets your approval and is merged, you're credited as the reviewer.
- We email you. Once you've earned, we'll send you an onboarding email at the address on your GitHub account with a link to claim.
- Connect a payout method. Bank transfer for USD-funded bounties, or a wallet address for USDC (Solana), ETH, or BTC if the bounty was crypto-funded.
- Get paid. Payout settles the same time the contributor's does.
Edge cases
- No one reviewed, just a direct merge? The reviewer cut rolls into the contributor cut.
- Did you both write and merge the PR? You get the combined 90%. You did both jobs.
- Multiple approvers? The reviewer cut goes to the last approver before merge.
- Don't want the money? You'll be able to auto-donate your cut to the project's GitHub Sponsors (v2).
Onboarding payout
After your first earned review, we send an email with a one-time link. The link takes you to a short form: GitHub login to verify identity, then payout method. Takes about two minutes. Earnings are held for you until you complete it. There's no deadline.
